Canberra B2 WJ628 (08/1954)

The squadron’s Operations Record Book shows “Towards the end of July, Canberra WJ628 was placed unserviceable and on inspection the fore and aft floor beams and roof of the nose wheel compartment were found to be cracked and buckled with some roof rivets pulling. The aircraft was placed CAT3 but on a further inspection more damage was revealed which will entail the changing of the nose portion of the aircraft. During the last week of August WJ628 was therefore placed CAT4 and it is due to be returned to the English Electric Company for the nose portion to be changed”
